By request, Mr. Green took a brief tour out of Special Operations to lead operations for the largest Logistics Squadron in the Air Force, which is located in Japan. He juggled 830 personnel and six flights while he operated 110 facilities geographically spread across the largest overseas military installation and was accountable for its $3.2 billion budget. This also included managing the Air Force’s largest Pacific energy account of over $90 million dollars. Green’s notable military career is a testament to his commitment to success and ability to motivate those he leads with thoughtful determination.
He has traveled, lived, and worked in more than 15 countries worldwide, providing him unique insight into a multitude of global communities. This has deepened his appreciation of humanity, the necessity for conscientious and sustainable business practices, and individual contribution to the plight of his fellow man. Green’s charitable and community-oriented efforts rival his military career, marked by his relentless commitment to excellence and willingness to share his talents for the good of others. While on military assignment in Afghanistan, Green led an initiative that provided gifts and school supplies for Afghani children, further underlining his belief in the need to focus charitable efforts on children.
As a member of the Women in Defense organization and one of a very small group of male members, Green has proudly championed women in defense and their causes. As a board member of the #1 Public University in the South (according to U.S. News & World Report), a board member of Habitat for Humanity (Peninsula), a member of the YMCA of Hampton Roads, and numerous other boards, Green has served to lead and improve his community at every level.
As a member of the Air Force Cadets Mentor Action program, Green invested pearls of wisdom and knowledge that he recalls from his own youth as a benefactor of community parks and recreation leagues.
He is an especially proud and fervent supporter of multiple S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) initiatives for K-12, the Zenith Challenge high school program, and other programs that encourage students to excel in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
He established the $25,000 Tevan Green Family S.T.E.M Scholarship for minorities and women at The Citadel.
As former Director of the Middle Georgia Region of DEFY (Drug Education For Youth), Green took his first step on a large scale to affect a large region including both military dependents of deployed service members and inner-city youth of Middle Georgia. DEFY’s purpose is to produce 9-12-year-olds with character, leadership, and confidence so that they are equipped to engage in a positive, healthy lifestyle as drug-free citizens. Through DEFY, Green empowered local youth to succeed through coordinated community participation, commitment, and leadership.
Green has taken his lessons learned in Charleston, also known as “The Lowcountry,” to a global scale as he was formerly on the board of a globally recognized international Non-Governmental Organization previously known as AAI (Australian Aid International) http://www.aai.org.au.
