This is a report of potential unethical business activity by Express Unlocks at the website https://expressunlocks.com/en_gb. The following incident report was created anonymously by submission on our site.
This business advertises that it will unlock phones, that is allow any SIM card to be used in a phone that was purchased from and locked to a particular service provider. I needed this doing and so used the service for which I was asked to pay £27. A little while after paying I was emailed by them, and the email said they had confirmed the phone could be unlocked and to finalise the unlocking I had to pay a further £27.
There was absolutely no mention of this secondary payment on the website nor at any obvious place during proceeding with initial payment – it was not referred to at all clear to be seen. When I searched the link in the email in small print titled: “Why am I being asked to make this payment?” I was referred to “section 7.3 of the T’s & C’s which you ticked to sign prior to purchase.”
No one reads these elongated T’s & C’s, we do not expect to be taken advantage of like this and now I am being held to ransom by this company to get the job done.
Very dishonest way of going about things.
I have had no replies to emails I have sent them, and the contact number shown on the website does not exist. I searched the business address and rang the number associated with that and spoke to a lady who said this was not that business but she fielded calls from angry consumers numerous times a day.
Express Unlock is taking advantage of people and should be put out of business ASAP.
