The Ultisim team consists of experts with many decades of experience applying interactive 3D simulation and interface technologies to the computer gaming, engineering, architectural design, television and motion picture, and simulation learning industries. Now, using computer game engines and Internet technologies pioneered by our team over the last 30 years, we are solving a critical problem in education in a way that is not easily replicated.
Members of the Ultisim team created the world’s first 3D computer adventure game, the first set of 3D Internet tools, one of the most successful game franchises in the world, the first 3D level 4 IMI courseware validated by TRADOC for the Army, and the architecture for the U.S. Department of Defense Virtual World Framework for training simulation.
In 2007 the aerospace company Lockheed Martin acquired the pioneering simulation learning company 3Dsolve, founded by Richard Boyd. The Ultisim team manifested within Lockheed as Virtual World Labs with Richard Boyd as the Director. The Virtual World Labs team had over 100 patent disclosures in Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in six years.
In 2011 director James Cameron and his wife Suzy created a new experimental school in Calabasas, Ca called The Muse School. Ultisim CEO Richard Boyd was asked by Cameron to join the board of this new school along with Sir Ken Robinson, Elliott Winer of Big Picture Learning and others. Richard Boyd Recognized as CEO of Ultisim Inc
Over the last thirty years Richard has led or helped create some of the most innovative game technology companies in the industry. He has served as a game technology consultant for a wide variety of industries including energy, healthcare, education and motion pictures. He is co-founder and CEO of a machine learning company called Tanjo Inc. and co-founder of a simulation learning company called Ultisim Inc. At Aerospace giant Lockheed Martin he created and led a group of innovative engineers and designers across all mission areas called Virtual World Labs. Richard joined Lockheed Martin in 2007 when Lockheed acquired 3Dsolve, a North Carolina based computer game technology firm where he was founder and CEO. Richard served for a decade on the executive management team of Virtus Corporation where he helped create several pioneering computer gaming companies including Red Storm Entertainment, with author Tom Clancy; iRock Entertainment with Ozzy Osbourne; and Timeline Computer Entertainment, with author Michael Crichton.
